1. Overview:

The vortex type flow transmitter operates based on the principle of the "Von Kármán effect." This device is capable of withstanding high temperatures of up to 350°C while achieving a measurement accuracy of 1%. Its sensor is available in a choice of SS304 or SS316 materials. Equipped with simultaneous Modbus, 4–20 mA, and pulse output capabilities, it serves as the preferred instrument for measuring gases, liquids, steam, and thermal oils. As a highly durable device, it contains no internal moving parts, offering the distinct advantages of simple installation, convenient maintenance, and low maintenance costs.

How do you select the most suitable vortex flowmeter based on the characteristics of the measured medium?

 

1. If measuring media such as gases, saturated steam, superheated steam, or thermal oil, it is necessary to use a vortex flowmeter equipped with temperature and pressure compensation. Such devices can display flow rates in mass units-such as tons/h or kg/h-thereby ensuring measurement accuracy and stability. This is essential because the density of these media, and consequently their volume, fluctuates in response to changes in temperature. Instruments equipped with temperature and pressure compensation simultaneously display flow rate, pressure, and temperature; they automatically correct the readings based on variations in pressure and temperature to yield accurate measurement values.

 

2. If measuring media with stable densities-such as water or air-one may opt for a model without temperature and pressure compensation. This approach helps reduce procurement costs while still maintaining an accuracy level of 1%.
