How to ensure the stability of clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter measurement?

The clamp-on ultrasonic flowmeter is a flow meter that is very suitable for full pipe measurement. It is easy to install, can be installed without interruption, and does not contact the liquid medium. It can measure the liquid flow of large pipe diameters and can also be used to measure media that are difficult to contact and observe. Its measurement accuracy is very high and is almost unaffected by various parameters of the measured medium. It can solve the flow measurement problems of highly corrosive, non-conductive, radioactive and flammable and explosive media that other instruments cannot measure.

Installation of Ultrasonic Flow Meter

How can we use the clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter correctly to ensure the stability of the data to the greatest extent? We mainly analyze from the following five aspects:

1. First, confirm whether the flow meter in the pipeline is full of fluid. Only when it is full of fluid can the data be guaranteed to be as accurate as possible. This is very important;

2. If the pipeline is too close to the wall, the probe can be installed on the pipeline diameter with an inclined angle, instead of on the horizontal pipeline diameter. The Z method should be used to install the probe;

3. Carefully select the dense part of the pipeline and fully polish it, apply sufficient coupling agent to install the probe, and then use a clamp to reinforce it so that the sensor and the outer wall of the pipeline are in better contact and fit;

4. When installing the sensor, slowly move the sensor near the installation point to find the best installation position of the sensor so that the signal value reaches the maximum signal point to prevent the ultrasonic beam from reflecting out of the expected area due to scaling on the inner wall of the pipeline or local deformation of the pipeline, and miss the installation point where a strong signal can be received;

5. For metal pipelines with severe scaling on the inner wall, the scaling part can be knocked off or cracked, but it should be noted that this method sometimes does not help the transmission of ultrasonic waves at all because of the gap between the scaling and the inner wall.
