They do not require cutting the pipe; instead, a circular hole is simply drilled into the top of the pipe to allow the sensor probe to be inserted. The insertion depth is typically half the pipe diameter, or one-quarter of the diameter for larger pipes. This setup enables the measurement of both volumetric and instantaneous flow rates, achieving an accuracy of up to 1%.
